Re:injector pump leak Date Posted:09/04/2010 01:20:00Copy HTML I have never taken the top off one of those only the earlier types and the spindle had a rubber washer which When replaced stopped the leaks. I haven't really looked at the pump on a newer turbo.
You do have to be very carefull taking the tops of but one possible solution might be to roll a new one down the spindle from the top, I did this on one of my dodges years ago and it stopped the leak.

Re:injector pump leak Date Posted:13/03/2013 09:57:26Copy HTML I have a phaser 3990cc diesel with an injector pump leak (Bosch Ve series injector pump) leaking like a SOB from the injector manifold (cast) and the pump (alloy). Spoke with a local diesel pump specialist and its a n=known fault, £20 fix plus labour,,,,,downside.....need to take off the pump and get it to them.
Anyone got any advice as regards removing the damn thing and upsetting the timing of the pump? I'm at the point where it will come out but dont want to until I have a bit more info if that makes sense? Any help appreciated. Al |

Re:injector pump leak Date Posted:15/03/2013 08:16:28Copy HTML I think we talked on the phone last week, if you call me again I can give you some more info via the engine workshop manual, I'm pretty sure as long as nothing moves then the timing will be ok, it is all cogs no belt, call me on 07778643304

Re:injector pump leak Date Posted:15/03/2013 08:27:08Copy HTML I was looking to remove the pump from a Phaser a few days ago - Perkins manual talks of removing the drive gear by means of a special puller - certainly didn't want to come off with a couple of long set screws, some tugging and some kind words off persuasion!
was expecting to have to lock everything with drill bits but as Greg says, no mention of such, just turning crank to get keyway in drive gear to 1o/c and use the special tool ... ... easy, if you have the special tool (I don't - guess i'll have to make one - or can one bypass that bit and extract pump with gear attached? - probably not if the gear is helical and you don't want to move the pump on a bit as it comes out?) it seemed like a good idea at the time
