Date Posted:30/07/2010 12:59:38Copy HTML A very handy guide to what might happen to you and your vehicle if stopped by VOSA, most of it relates to commercial HGV but the fines are the same if non HGV commercial vehicles.

Re:VOSA ~ Enforcement Sanctions Policy Date Posted:22/11/2010 07:54:23Copy HTML I reckon it does mean they only want to check what they have said needs fixing, 2 hours is a long time to look over a vehicle so they must be happy with everything else.
Vosa are working towards getting our older vehicles off the road so they need to be tip top these days.

Re:VOSA ~ Enforcement Sanctions Policy Date Posted:28/11/2010 09:11:51Copy HTML You need to hold the key When starting at the point just before the starter kicks in, the dash warning lights should dim, hold for about 15 seconds then push the key so the starter kicks in,
I usually turn the engine over once before doing this as it pushes fresh fuel to the heater plug.
If it doesnt start do it again, whatever you do, dont in the easy start route cos that knackers engines and they want more every time, a bit like crack or heroin users.
Easystart, class a drugs for engines!

Re:VOSA ~ Enforcement Sanctions Policy Date Posted:29/11/2010 06:09:05Copy HTML Cheeky buggers, you paid for a partial test so in their eyes thats what you got. so no mot cert is given.

Re:VOSA ~ Enforcement Sanctions Policy Date Posted:30/11/2010 04:53:22Copy HTML Going back to the engine starting when it gets cold like now all minor problems start showing as majors! - could be you have a glow plug or two out - we can buy them for around £20 a set of four here depending on manufacturer ( some are cheaper) - IMO worth changing if the problem continues but as Greg mentioned keep the Key turned to the right for about 15 seconds before starting.

Re:VOSA ~ Enforcement Sanctions Policy Date Posted:30/11/2010 10:04:46Copy HTML there is only one heater plug on a perkins, set in the air intake (top right rear of engine) and they cost abott 10 quid to replace, same fit as on most perkins 4 /6 cylinder diesel engines.
