Date Posted:31/08/2010 07:36:36Copy HTML Hi again Greg in my last post about down rating we decided it would be a simple task but I was wondering if to make things easier I could still run it as MOT exempt or would I then have to have it tested thanks Chris

Re:Test exemption after down-rating Date Posted:31/08/2010 10:54:11Copy HTML Naa it is much harder to exempt a 3500kgs or under vehicle as there is only about 6 exemption categories, cant remember off hand what they are, it is a V112 for the exemption cert.

Re:Test exemption after down-rating Date Posted:02/09/2010 06:37:21Copy HTML Hi Greg and Clive well I am nearly there a man of that horrible breed welders is supposed to be coming Saturday I had a go myself but I am not up to the job if I could put it in a vice on the bench I could do it but unfortunately that is not the case anyway the start of this thread was exemptions and the like having just done loads of research on the exemptions from test it is definitely coming to an end shortly and if I get it under the weight I would not be exempt anyway, but that is the route I have to go because I am much happier going to an independent garage than a VOSA station I now have the rear brakes reassembled and re-piped ready for bleeding so it is all down to the welder now never take a welder at his word you can tell when they are lying there lips move . Anyway I digress in my research I came across this and I think you might find it a good idea to put on the site as it is definitely going to affect a lot of members the site address

Re:Test exemption after down-rating Date Posted:02/09/2010 07:32:56Copy HTML Thats a good link, thanks.
From it I found http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2009:141:0012:0028:EN:PDF that is the europ directive about mots. Some vehicles are still exempt like dual purpose but recovery / display ect are all gonna have to have a test. I would say that there would be a bit of a fight with an RB44 chassis as it is a mod spec chassis and was different from the hgv chassis and the clearence or exemptions is based on hgv chassis, so would a military spec chassis get a vehicle around this? Anyhow, they are gonna be getting much much tougher on older vehicles as a whole. *sad face* "Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws."

Re:Test exemption after down-rating Date Posted:08/09/2010 03:59:01Copy HTML Hi again Greg I hope you are not getting fed up with seeing my name appear (LOL) I have just been on the phone to VOSA about down rating and was told to get form VTG 10 which I have done he says fill that in and we will decide if we have to see the vehicle I asked how does that work and he could not really help me with that as it is a different department as the adjustments are pretty minor are they likely to want to see it I am trying to feel the water here because I dread the thought of driving it in there and them going over it and not letting it go and demand I have it recovered from there site thanks Chris |

Re:Test exemption after down-rating Date Posted:08/09/2010 04:16:38Copy HTML Well you might be lucky as the changes are so minor but I cannot say if they will or wont want to see it as the VTG10 says, 'we reserve the right to see your vehicle' or words to that effect. I guess it a risk you are gonna have to take?
Oh and you are welcome to pester and post as much as you like, I can always delete ya posts LOL >>>>>>>runs away>>>>>>>>> "Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws."

Re:Test exemption after down-rating Date Posted:08/09/2010 11:40:21Copy HTML if you read the eu directive you will see that there is no need to remove the exemtions.
its just the uk gov being total prats as per usual spineless prats looking for a pat on the head. when in fact the rest of the eu se them for what they are a lot of mind less pissed up toffs that do not live in the real world. its no wonder we have no industry left and this countrys gone down the toilet. duuuuu rules is rules old boy. pathetic. |

Re:Test exemption after down-rating Date Posted:09/09/2010 02:50:26Copy HTML They don't have exemptions in other eu countries from what I was told and any test exempt vehicle in the UK isn't legal to be driven abroad though a vast number of people do.
