Date Posted:16/02/2011 04:59:47Copy HTML Hi all my names Simon, I live in Birmingham UK and I have recently brought a RB44.
It is a soft top GS, but I want to fit a hard radio body on it with a veiw to converting it to a camper. I have owned many military trucks, but this is my first RB and guess what , I need a few things and loads of advice! Things I need; rear radio comms body, twin seats, dash, drivers quarter-lite, tyres, bumper pin, workshop/ parts manual, rear sliding glass, side repeater lenses If anyone knows where I can get any of this stuff, I would be very grateful Apart from coming back from the gulf with some bullet holes in it, it is not in bad shape having only done 4300miles, but does have a few little probs. The heat and the temp gauge don't seem to work, I've heard that the thermostat are prone to going. I can't locate where it might be housed, and where is the temp sender in the block or on the rad? Lastly where is a good place for Perkins parts and is the engine a 110MT or T440? Cheers and thanks Simon |

Re:Hi from Simon RB44 owner Date Posted:16/02/2011 07:23:19Copy HTML Hi there Simon and welcome to the world of the dodge 50 (4x4 mod version)
for the bits you are after twin seats (I have a reasonable one available, tis a brown one and not a plastic cover either) dash (I got a decent Black one available) drivers quarter-lite, (I will check but think I only have a passenger side one) tyres, (which type are you after, sand or mud type? they are hard to find but I know someone who can get them new or used) bumper pin, you can get these from a decent farm shop, one that sells bits for tractors as they have different lengths) workshop/ parts manual, (a lot of the manual is on the main site Here but the 4x4 stuff isn't up yet, something I am working on at the moment, there is an operators manual on ebay with one bid on) rear sliding glass, (there was one on ebay but it has either been bought or not relisted) Asif at MAS in Mirfield, West Yorkshire might have one, say you are a mate of Greg 01924 495085 / 499104 side repeater lenses (Do you need two, I have some second hand ones) My contact details are greg@dodge50.co.uk and 07971836301 (send a text) or use the private message system here "Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws."

Re:Hi from Simon RB44 owner Date Posted:01/03/2011 08:39:44Copy HTML hi simon. i have an rb44 camper. had it 6/7 years now and i love it. i chose to have a luton box built on the back after chopping the paniers off. i live in brum too. the truck is in wolvesparked next to a civilian version. feel free to get in touch and have a nose around and get some ideas. i am currently desiging an extension on the back of mine as even the luton box isnt big enough for my needs. there are pictures of my rb in the picture gallery.

Re:Hi from Simon RB44 owner Date Posted:26/07/2012 03:37:09Copy HTML Does anyone know where the major componets of the RB44 where made? I am particuly intrested in the cab and the chassis. This is due to the bunch of half-wit morons I hang with insisting that it is a French truck, only bolted together in britain... I know the engine is Perkins so thats one down, can you help me prove a non-french heritage...??? Cheers Simon

Re:Hi from Simon RB44 owner Date Posted:26/07/2012 05:24:07Copy HTML The bodies chassis were made in dunstable where renault fitted the Reynolds boughton axles and transfer box, renault built them in the UK and renault France had nothing to do with them or any of the 50 series, hope that clears that up for you.

Re:Hi from Simon RB44 owner Date Posted:29/07/2012 07:09:49Copy HTML Another little Addition for ya Simon The Cab Doors are American the very same as USA Dodge vans of the 70`s-90`s . I remember that a Member of this Website Pete worked at the Dunstable factory & particularly involved on the RB44 project.
See His Video on you tube . I recall him saying the panels were contracted out to JEEP (Another Chrysler Co) . So there ya go . Take it to ya Morons who talk without knowledge . The French just bought em out, stopped making em & sold the production line to the Chinese. Wonderful . Regards John Oh, .........And the Dana Axles are cast in South America. Tyres are Michelin though ! |

Re:Hi from Simon RB44 owner Date Posted:16/03/2018 01:08:11Copy HTML ?? Gday RB44 lovers, Ive ? ? been told your all the experts on these ?Reynolds Boughton ? RB44 light trucks?? ? They are quite the beast and even though they have a bad reputation, im a believer that after the recall all the problems were rectified.Im wanting to purchase on ?e? and convert into a camper/tourer/home to carry me around Europe.?I? would very be very greatfull for any info on the one in the link below? to determine if its the real deal and why it is so cheap with the box they have on the back of it.? If i buy it id be converting the rear box into a lounge room with sleeper above the cabin. This seems like its half done for me and so a perfect starter. Just wondering if this Make/Model has all the upgrades that it should have?? Steering wobble to the left whilst breaking i believe was a drama. It has only 5000kms on the engine. If you good blokes have a second to spare to tell me what upgrades i can do to make this beast an offroad / economical grunty legend then id be hugely appreciative. REYNOLDS BOUGHTON Model Year 1991 Transmission Manual Fuel Diesel Engine Size 4,000 ccm Mileage 5,662 ? Im an Ausie bloke living in Poland!! Daniel |
