Re:Clutch Master & Slave Cylinders Date Posted:24/08/2012 09:12:50Copy HTML Dont know if this previous message from that nice chap Terkka (Tero) in Finland helps at all...
(Do we need a "handy fix & compatable products" S50 section ?) Hi, Clutch slave cylinder on my S35 started leaking badly couple weeks ago. I took it off and saw that bore had rust in it. I measured it and ID was about 23.82 mm HMMMM.... I took a 24mm reamer and bored it after that I did some honing with brake cylinder hone. And yes all rust was gone and it looked perfect. Then installed a PBR 4515 seal instead of original. And it seems to be working ok. PBR 4515 seal is quite "rigid" seal compared to original. Pressing clutch felt harder couple of days but now it is either loosened up or I have gotten used to it. Well this is for someone else who also feels like DIY mechanic :) PS PBR 4515 is used originally in Isuzu Bellet clutch cylinder. Tero ALSO, A google search for ""brake cylinder" rebore" came up with http://www.pastparts.co.uk/ - they claim "Past Parts Engineering department can transform any cylinder from any vehicle". The VW forum people seem to like the company ( http://www.vwtype3and4club.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=317 ). Rod. |

Re:Clutch Master & Slave Cylinders Date Posted:24/08/2012 09:46:58Copy HTML Reply to buffallo (23/08/2012 19:07) hey karrier What do you mean with relining off the cylinder. Even with a scratch will it be fixed? Thanks Yes, you reline the bore usualy either by spraying it with new metal or inserting a new metal sleeve & then boring the whole thing out to the original dimension (both methods tend to be expensive). (The cheapest method is to find a good second hand one). Rod. |

Re:Clutch Master & Slave Cylinders Date Posted:12/09/2012 06:47:10Copy HTML Sorry Claude
will send you a pm with some prices and suggestions, if you were to collect from me you would not have problems from customs on your return.
Yes I could fit the gear box but depending on when, I live in Goole, in east yorkshire, I do have spare bell housings and different bearing carriers and clutch plates, mounting brackets and other bits
