Need to replace wheel bearings and hub seal on s56 mk2.
Can anyone tell me if the wheel bearings are the same on a mk1 s56 with drums and a mk2 s56 with discs.

I have some numbers for the mk1 but no info for the mk2
inner bearing Timken 2788/2720
outer bearing Timken 30305

Anyone got any numbers for the seal?

Regards.

front bearings and hub seals are the same on mk1/2 as are the rear BUT only if the axle set up is the same, ie a x6 or ax 8, most S56 Mk1 and mk2 vehicles had ax6 axles but there were also two different hub sizes available, again most had the standard, if you have the chassis numbers for both i should be able to tell you for sure, using the hub seals though isn't really a good idea as getting them out with no damage is hard to do, also if the mk1 rear axle is an old one it might have a different type of hub seal.

ok i have managed to make that sound more complicate than it could be.
do you mean front axle? see above
do you mean rear axle? see above

i can give you the seal numbers but need to know which axle, so chassis numbers is best

Thanks for confirming that the front axle wheel bearings are the same on mk1/mk2.
Timken 2788/2720 inner bearing (two numbers as bearing race and bearing cup have seperate numbers)
Timken 30305 outer bearing (one number as race and cup come complete)

Could you let me have a hub seal number for the front axle hub?

Regards and thanks
