Hi,

I have joined the forum because I want to buy an ex army RB44 for conversion into a camper....its a great looking 4x4.

I am thinking about building a box to mount on top of the existing side lockers and using the space between the wheel arches / side lockers to house the water tanks, gas tank, maybe extra fuel etc.

I would like to know - if anyone can have a quick measure for me - what the height of the load bed (between the lockers) is from the ground and also the height of the lockers also how high off the ground is the cab roof and the distance from the side locker top to the cab roof.

Basically I want to work out what head room I can have in the box I build and if I extend over the cab will there be enough room for a bed up there.

Would also be interested to hear from anyone that has done a conversion particularly if you increased the rear overhang - want to know how far I can go with out having too much effect on the departure angle. An extra meter would be good, with a taper on the bottom.

I intend to go a view some at whithams as soon as possible but would like to know what is going to be possible first.
If anyone knows of a truck for sale I may be interested I am not to worried about the body just so long as it is mechanically sound.

Thanks
Ralph

Hi and welcome, I don't have a RB44 myself but do have all the dimensions in paper format and have scanned some in, I think one is on the dodge50.co.uk photos section on the Facebook page facebook.com/dodge50, I am on my phone at moment but will pop something up as soon as I can, someone might also.come along who does own one and give the details you need.
