Hey all, I've been admiring this forum for quite some time; meanwhile my 83' turbo diesel power ram was in the shop to get refitted for a new 86' block: quite a job. Now it's running sweet and tight, in total: new clutch, new tranny and the block. So I do have a veggie conversion installed but right now the piston rings are seating so it's all diesel. Surely there's some veggie riders here so on I'm coming, after the break in period. I'm breaking in on this truck too, for diesel driving. On I did come for this avatar, it's a scene shot of yours truly portraying a supporting role in the movie Tucker, that was 20 years ago. I learned to drive from Buddy Joe Hooker who's the best stunt driver in the business during that movie. I really like the Mitsu turbo engine, took a trip to the Mojave desert in an 82' Starion (a gas turbo that was later declared illegal on the street). So I'll say thanks in advance for all that surely I can learn here.

Hi there Muzak.    Sorry it seems that any moderators with the answer to your questions are busy out on the road & not much happening on here. However I`ll bid you  a welcome to this UK based site.

You speak of a D50 Turbo diesel and a power Ram. ?

Am I guessing right that you have a US model dodge van with a diesel motor ?

Our Dodge vehicles are UK built trucks with perkins Diesels.

OR do you have a Imported 50 Series Dodge in the States   ?

Hope "Karrier " drops in soon to advise you on engine rev range and Revs at the maximum Torque developed. As I reckon this will be the optimum engine revs for an overdrive trans.

At least on the perkins motors that we are using.

Cheers ,    JFB

Hey JFB, yes I've got the '83 Ram 50 TD with a custom head and 2 tank veggie conversion. Right now I'm working out the details of mixing biodiesel with veggie as my main tank fuel. The difficulties are the difference in temperature of the veggie oil (VO) contrasted with the biodiesel which contains VO but burns at the temp of diesel.

I wonder if anyone knows what temp the diesel is when it leaves a heated fuel filter but my guess would be >38 C.
