Hi just found this site and need some help/advise my 1986 g12 horsebox failed it,s test today! on to much lift on the o/s king pin, are the kingpins adjustable or shimable, there is 2 mm of lift and it needs to be less than 1.6mm to pass. other than the kingpin lift it only failed on a loose headlight, so i,m fairly happy.

Good news on such little wrong on the mot, can you not pack with grease to get rid of the lift?

They are not adjustable but I reckon you could fit shims, a new kits on ebay here http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=dodge+100+king+pin+&_sacat=See-All-Categories

I gotta look through the microfisch for the 100 series so will see what shims were available for the G12's.

yes i thought about packing with grease, but worried it may still fail, reshimming i think is the way, tomorrow i,m going to jack it up, wheel off and give it a good steam clean and see if the kingpin will move and if i can slip some shims in if i have some that,ll fit from my case digger spares. Just looked at the kingpin kits on ebay and they only fit up to 1981 mine is 1986.  sdgg12aakhd724641 it belonged to Hotpoint before it was converted to a horsebox.  Cheers mark.

I think the king pins are the same, I got a mate with a G13 bus on a C plate and he used them kingpins though I will check on the microfisch for you.

congratulations!

interesting how cotter pins in the US seem to be what we call R-clips or split-pins and not the grooved metal dowels
