Morning everybody,
Still got the problems with my horseboxe steering - Ive stripped everything down from the wheels upto the steering wheel, and found the top bearing in the steering boxes in shot.
Does anyone know of a steering box for sale or any ideas on refurbing the existing box.
Ive tried Renault for a bearing kit - not a chance in hell!
Cheers
Gazza

Thanks for coming back to me:
ya tried that with 2 local bearing companies both had no idea : looks like it was made for the truck by someone in there garage who run off enough for this type of steering box. Theres no markings on the bearing at all, its a taper roller with the shells housed on the casting and the shaft (ie in 3 parts). Another engineer said that it could possibly re-turned etc to take a normal pressed bearing set but he couldnt be sure it would work due to the construction of the thing. Im getting lost with this - drives great and this is the only thing that stopped it from passing Mot.
Cheers

Ah....erm whoops, missed the bit it being in the 100 series area, ok I will check as you never know it might have had the same non powerbox, i will also call a friend who has just stripped a 100 series and might still have the box from it.

post them up here on this thread, if you dont know how, just read this

Ref adding pictures, just click the reply link on a post to get the advanced test editor, read this, http://help.aimoo.com/Tutorials-Trendy-Version/Images-in-Posts-1-1650504.html  section a is what you need, the thread is on the official aimoo help forum where i am the head Moderator there :-), not my thread though.

I did one here a few years ago  but the image for the reply button is wrong as that was on the old style forum

You can add as many images as you wish to posts, we have unlimited server space.

I have left him a message but he might not be back from Glasto yet as he has a lot to take down, most likely a lack of power on his phone, as soon as i hear from him i will let you know.

try again......................dont know if its of any interest to any 50 owners out there, but a mate of mine who has a shed load of wagons  has a dodge 50 sat in the yard sleeping.
I was looking for bits for mine when I found her and I dont think hes bothers about doing anything with it. Let me know anyone.
Also about half amile from me I have found a yard with about a dozen dodges, 6x6 army, willis jeeps and all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff in - but hed would eat his own liver before parting withany of it - its in Armley near Leeds does anyone know the 2 brothers who live there?

hi Greg,
May have found a supply for the steering box!
Been speaking to a bloke called John in Ireland, said he's got some Dodges breakin for parts, so I sent the pics over for him, so everything crossed might get sorted. He delivers to Wakefield weekly and asked if I need owt else - maybe a good contact if he sorts this. Did u get any joy from yr mate?
