Karrier used to have a blue flasing light, the police / fire type on one of his vans, best ask him.

I would have thought as long as the vehicle is still classed as a fire engine and looks a bit like one and you never use them on the highway you should be alright. I have seen converted dodge 100 and commer dodges as well as dennis fire appliances to limo / fun hire and they still have the blue lights.

Karrier will tell you what you need to know, if anyone knows the loopholes it is him.

Hi fellas. As far as I know Blue lenses are only legal on the emergency service vehicles, mountain rescue ,mines rescue Bomb disposal etc.

They are not supposed to be sold to the general public and are usually removed by the seller  of ex-service vehicles.(if sold to non emergency peeps)

Can you get same pattern lenses in amber ?  I did this on mine (Lucas parts)

or perhaps cover it when on the road if you just want to use it at festivals etc.

I know others who have been stopped in ex US police vehicles to make sure the beacons are not usable. Regards JB

Hi peeps, from what i was told you can have blue lights as long as they do not work, this was a few years back, about 8, i think things might have changed, if you replace, you can only use orange as red, blue and green are for emergency services.

BUT...if the vehicle is classed as fire unit and is a private fire unit / rescue vehicle I think the blue light can stay, if as said in utopiajewellery's email to me it is to be converted to camper, it can still be re-classed as a recovery or dual purpose vehicle, this will only make it test exempt not tax exempt.

BUT.... I think an onsite fire rescue unit with living area can be classed as fire tender / rescue vehicle and still be classed as fire unit, it is a bit of a muddle when a fire unit is also a camper.

Needs looking into a bit more I think, I would phone vosa or dvla, this number might be the right one, it was given to me today while asking about downrating vehicles 02076762064 maybe the one you need, if you explain the vehicle is an onsite (festivals NO but say public events) rescue vehicle with onsite living they might say its ok, this way you will at least find out.

Please let us know what you find out for future reference.

When you tax the vehicle, change the taxation class to Special Vehicles, and say, if they ask that it is a showmans vehicle, then produce a V112G for the test exemption. You have to do this at a DVLA office, if they ask why it needs exemption you can say it is a dual purpose vehicle, showmans recovery and generator unit.

Or send your documents / insurance / V112G form and payment for tax (same as a car tax ?90.75 six months or what ever a year is )to your local DVLA with the taxation class section on the documents filled in as change of taxation class to special vehicles.

This is how I would do it, I have an S75 like this and I know karrier has both his vehicles like this, he also has his little suzuki jeep test exempt using a V112 (not V112G this is for 3500kgs and over the one you will need). It was karrier who put me on to this!! He even had his ford escort exempt!!!!!!!!!! How mad is he?

If you have done it before, even 20 years ago, might as well go yourself, the showmans and showmans haulage has been put in the same tax class as tower wagons, works vehicles etc which as JPI says is the Special Vehicles Taxation class.

I would also go down the showmans route and have done many times but then I do own a circus for real. LOL. www.circusbox.co.uk Might be small but it is a real circus all the same.

We also used to get special reduced tax for circus vehicles about ?50 a year the last time I got it, not anymore though with showmans being put in the special vehicles class, I used to get Light Showmans tax on my old 350 and 200 sherpa ex BT vans.

(Date Posted:21/12/2008 22:11:29)

Now that is a lot of brass air fittings http://www.liangdianup.com/subpages/airfitting_1.htm  there is just about every type
of air fitting that you could want. Wholesale prices too. I guess these could be used as small water pipe fitting also. I
