 Hi there

OK the vehicle is actually a 4.600kgs taxation class vehicle, meaning it can be loaded up to 4.600kgs maximum. as it is a chassis cab it most likely has a box on the back, depending on your licience (did you pass before jan 1997) you can drive without a hgv licience, if you passed your test after jan 97 then you would need to do another test to be able to drive vehicles between 3500kgs and 7500kgs.

OR if the vehicle weighs less than around 3200 to 3300kgs then it can quite easily and cheaply be downrated to 3.500kgs PGV taxation class.
Most chassis cabs weighed around 2200kgs so depending on whats on the back it might sit under 3.500kgs.
If it weighs 3.500kgs then it will be too heavy as you need to be able to put stuff in it and drive it etc.
some tips are to not have a full tank of fuel, water, gas etc when being weighed.

It can be class 1V mot if it is a motorhome or class V11if it is a commercial vehicle between 3000kgs and 3500kgs.

If it is over 3500kgs it will be classed as private hgv 3500to 7500kgs.

I hope that helps.

4600 is the MVW (maximum vehicle weight) when fully loaded

7100 is the MTW (maximum train weight) vehicle plus trailer combined must not exceed 7100kgs

1950 is the maximum weight allowed on the front axle*

3200 is the maximum weight allowed on the rear axle*

Ok all has been explained by phone but here is a summary for anyone else.

1. passed test in oct 84 so can drive up to 7500kgs no problem.
2. vehicle taxation class is Private hgv as over 3500kgs (4600kgs)
3. can be downrated to the 3500kgs private goods vehicle class (depending on actual weight being less than 3200kgs)
4. Thats about it.
