Hi

I own a Dodge 50 Mark II (1992) and love it.  It was MOT'd/plated last May.  My local mechanic tells me I need to replace the brake pipes for copper ones for it to pass its next test. I guess this will be quite costly but does anyone know the validity of this, or roughly what I can expect to pay.  Or is it because its a horsebox conversion as anything with 'horse' seems to add '£££''s to it!

Also has anyone had any success with adding an extra mirror to view blind spots.  I realise these new regs don't affect me, but sometimes it is difficult to see down the nearside on a tight corner, especially as I am mostly without a passenger to check, my dog isn't quite that clever.

Cheers

If you have been advised to replace brake pipes, do not get them from renault, they WILL cost a packet, any decent mechanic will have a brake pipe making kit, if they haven't they aint very good IMO, copper pipes last longer then the steel ones too and are much more flexable.
Get a quote and ask for a detailed quote, meaning how much pipeing and ends are required, then get a quote elsewhere, you might find that with a bit of haggling you will get a reduction in price.

On My 30ft motorhome i have 3 mirrors on drivers side and 2 on the passengerside, on the drivers side there is the big main one, which has a smaller round wide angle one added to it, and then there is another bigger (but still small) round wide angle one below that, on the passengerside there is the main one and below that the bigger but still small round wide angle one and they are very handy and do cover a much wider area, I will take a photo tomorrow and pop it up so you can see them.

Thanks, look forward to the pics.

Just a thought as I don't think I made myself clear; the brake pipes are working ok, but need to be replaced for copper 'by law' this time. Does this sound right???  Will get some quotes anyway. ta

I am not sure about the brake pipes, it might be true, I will find out tomorrow for you.

Now me mirrors, you can see how much extra can be viewed with the wide angle ones.
